Early Literacy Classes

The Early Literacy Classes begin at 3 years old at The Reading Studio. These classes integrate play and learning making it fun and enjoyable for the students as they practice crucial pre-reading skills! Each of our enrichment classes were designed to be developmentally appropriate and intentional based on what young brains need in order to learn how to read and write. Is it too early for 3-5 year olds to take a reading class? Not at all. We are not pushing kids to read before starting kindergarten. In fact, studies show that many reading difficulties can be avoided if children start building their reading readiness skills during these early and impactful years.

We strive to spark students’ excitement and joy in their learning!

[Chapter 1]

Preschool (ages 3-4)

[Chapter 1] is our beginning Early Literacy Class at The Reading Studio. It is designed to teach 3 & 4 year olds pre-reading skills through games, sensory activities, interactive read-alouds (fiction and non-fiction), open ended play and hands on learning. The instruction focuses on pre-reading skills that are foundational to learning to read.

Chapter 1 is a year long curriculum running from September to June. Students are able to sign up for a class at any point throughout the year.

Students do not have to complete [Chapter 1] in order to enroll in [Chapter 2], classes are based on the child’s age.

[Chapter 2]

PreKindergarten (ages 4-5)

[Chapter 2] is a great small group class to prepare your child (4 & 5 year olds) for Kindergarten.  It’s hands on, interactive and designed to support early learners in their reading journey.  Some students maybe even begin to spell and sound out words. Students will have fun, make new friends and learn crucial pre-reading skills that will help their transition to Kindergarten.

Chapter 2 is a year long curriculum running from September to June. Students are able to sign up for a class at any point throughout the year.

Students do not have to complete [Chapter 1] in order to enroll in [Chapter 2], classes are based on the child’s age.
